TEACHING: MY PASSION
“The Woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have many promises to keep.
And miles to go before I sleep.
And miles to go before I sleep.”
Teaching is a spiritual enlightenment. It is a passion with me. I love teaching and want to go miles in this field before I sleep forever. I love to teach, I love to see minds opening up, to participate in the excitement of learning and to help people progress from frustration to accomplishment. I want to teach, guide, and most of all I want to make a difference. I am interested in research, because I sincerely believe that without doing any research, one becomes obsolete quickly, and that will certainly cause the quality of teaching to suffer. It is next to impossible to improve the quality of education without adequate focus on research.
Good teaching is as much about passion as it is about reason. It is not about motivating students to learn only, but also teaching them how to learn, and doing so in a manner that is relevant, meaningful, and memorable. Good teaching is about listening, questioning, being responsive, and remembering that each student and class is different. It is about eliciting responses and developing the oral communication skills of the students. It is about pushing students to excel. It is to bring winds of social change and progress making world a better place to live in. Education is not about feeding a mind with facts and figures alone but to evolve a mindset of being humane as well.
